The proper care is important for a correct function and a good look of your furniture. We would like to be on hand with help and advice to ensure this.

In general: Do not exaggerate with care, otherwise this will damage the furniture. For a daily care, dusting with a soft cloth and cleaning with a moist cloth is sufficient. Stains should immediately be eliminated with a mild neutral cleaning material. We recommend to you to test your cleaning material on an invisible position in advance. Never use aggressive cleaning or abrasive material.

Special care

for massive wooden furniture (painted / oiled):

  • only clean painted surfaces with warm water, eventually in addition with neutral soap or detergent
    oiled wood can additionally be maintained with mild beeswax emulsions
  • stains and liquids have to be absorbed immediately with a piece of cloth
  • avoid big differences of temperature and humidity

for untreated massive wooden furniture:

  • as this furniture is very moisture-sensitive, they should only be purged without or just with a few liquid
  • liquids have to be absorbed immediately with a piece of cloth
  • avoid big differences of temperature and humidity

for painted MDF:

  • clean humidly and dry with a soft piece of cloth
  • in case of stronger pollution neutral soap or detergent can be added to water

for surfaces covered with melamine resin:

  • just clean with lukewarm water in addition with mild detergent, however without pressure
  • dry with a soft and clean piece of cloth subsequently

From a technical point of view modern furniture doesn’t need much care

About two weeks after having set up a furniture, all screws should be controlled and retightened in order to compensate settlements. The connections of massive wooden furniture have to be controlled regularly afterwards, as massive wood fades depending on temperature and humidity of the environment.

Furniture for children made by Schardt is equipped with high-quality fittings, that don’t need any maintenance or lubrication. Only the slides of the drawers occasionally need some fat or alternatively a trickle of oil.
